- Tulum, which means 'Dawn' in Maya is the only Mayan ruins on a coast. It's
located on the Yucatan peninsula with an incredible view of the Caribbean Sea.
This is a popular spot for tourists from Mexico and the United States. It's a
fairly short drive to the ruins from Cancun. The water here is some of the
bluest I've ever seen and the ruins are quite extensive with over 60 buildings.
